51 days until Election Day…what will the town decide, what will happen with Colleen Connelly. Will we get our town back? Will the lying end? Or will we hand over millions to the new CFO, who right now can not be trusted in her daily job.
51 days to think about making a change….bring OUR town back, let the nonsense end!

For the sake of the town and the boro employees, I really hope Colleen gets the boot. She’s just bad all around, and I know a lot of people who are voting for Walsifer for that very reason.

Finally a nice weekend to go to the beach. Sitting on 20th ave watching the lifeguards involved in a scary rescue. Ambulance had a hard time getting to the scene. Couldn’t get the victim off the beach because of the dunes. Had to take him up through spring lake. Belmar gets big crowds when the weather cooperates – the public safety director and the head of the dpw should of thought of this. In speaking to the guards the head Lifeguard supervisor decided to take the day off. Probably tired of sitting in the rain all week.

Doonesbury, I was also on the beach yesterday along with thousands of others. Weather was great, water very rough. There was a handful of lifeguards riding around, they seemed busy. The dunes blocked all access to the water, no cutouts anywhere. How can you expect the lifeguards to do their job? Great thinking ahead Campbell, public safety director Houseman, Dopey mayor McGovern and complicit Connolly.
And on top of it the new lifeguard director sat in the office for 10 days in the rain playing solitaire and when the sunny weekend comes with bad water he doesn’t show up! Maybe he should be fired!

#4, yes someone almost drowned yesterday by 20th Ave. The first responders couldnt get over the dunes to assist him. They had to take him all the way to Spring Lake to get him off the beach. Very poor planning by our town leaders. I hope the man is ok!

  11. If what #4,7 and 8 say is true. Can someone in charge, acting chief, mayor, boro administrator please explain why the head lifeguard worked all week in the rain and didn’t show up this weekend when he may have actually been needed?

#! Eugene. Just be thankful that when you do get electrocuted you will land on a clean sidewalk or Main St. thanks to the daily litter patrol!

Inside sources say Queen Mean Colleen is being trained as CFO as we speak. A position which she has not been appointed to. Why does she think she needs to be trained already unless a shady deal has been made. And why is she being trained on boro time for a position she doesn’t hold?

Why should the head lifeguard work 7 days a week. There were other management working so the beach was safe. Give the guy a break. Did anyone drown? No they didn’t! And what other beach towns still have any lifeguards? People have to be responsible in the ocean whether there are lifeguards or not. Seaside had a drowning this past weekend.

#12 This litter patrol should clean up Borough Hall. If things look good, that is everything, no? Wizzing dogs will be electrocuted before humans, I would think, unless drunks vomit upon an electrified pole.

Before you vote this November, ask someone from borough hall, DPW, police department or a lifeguard on duty to take you through the 10th Avenue safety building. It’s worse than you can imagine. Every time there is any significant rain it comes down the walls and under the doors. Paint is coming off the walls and the walls look like there going to buckle. When the sun comes out it probably heats up and causes mold to be growing in the walls. How will this be remedied and how much will it cost? Matt is gone but Brian and Colleen are not. Go see that building!

Doonesbury…it won’t be remedied. Go take a look in the boro hall building on Main Street. There’s mold everywhere. Whenever it rains, the ceilings leak. The bathrooms are disgusting. It’s been like that for years. And there’s no heat in the 6th ave lobby in the winter.

18: it was designed neglect of the Borough Hall. They changed the location of the Business Office to make way for the “Senior Community Center”. Another big, open room, devoid of any activity or Community spirut. Then, just like greedy landlords using the same neglect technique to get rid of underclass (so they think) tenants they didn’t replace the entire roof thereby mitigating further water damages.

Mcdirty’s henchmen waneted the building to be neglected whIle there was a slew of contractor at their beck and call. ThE Brandywine maneuver didn’t work.Sell the Union Contractors a piece of the action and fix the Borough Hall. What the hell will go on with a 30 million dollar budget in the AC candystore is beyond anyone’s imagination.

#22 If you think it’s ok for the head lifeguard to sit in the office for days and days in the rain and not show up Saturday or Sunday when the weather was great and water was bad, then your right I dont know anything. I do know that only 8 guards showed up on Sunday. If he had a clue, he would have taken off a rainy day or two and worked the weekend if you feel he would be overworked by coming in 7 days. Boo hoo!

#24 Being that it technically is off season perhaps he is the only management available during the week as others have full time jobs Monday-Friday. And the weekends those off during the week are more than capable of covering. What other beach towns actually have any lifeguards working still????

#26 This will be my last comment on this post. We can agree to disagree. I can tell you that there are several local towns still with guards on. That’s a fact. But even if that wasn’t the case, Belmar chose to keep guards on and the head guard chose to not come in on a busy weekend. Whether there were other capable guards on duty or not doesn’t matter. Their “leader” chose not to come in. Pathetic. Lets also agree to be thankful no one drowned.

This town consistently makes the lifeguards jobs harder and harder, meanwhile lying to the press about their wages. If that gentleman that apparently got rescued this past weekend was having a major cardiac event or other serious medical incident he would have been in serious trouble since he was blocked by the stupidest dunes on the East Coast. Only 8 guards on duty this weekend? God bless them. They should be getting paid more than 12 bucks an hour to save the Queen of Mean’s bacon.
