We Were Planning Permanent Rest Rooms All Along…

…Not!

Meanwhile over in Spring Lake they are having the opposite problem:

I can understand people don’t want public toilets near their homes, but if Spring Lake is going to charge for beach badges they have to provide visitors adequate toilet facilities.

I’d like to know why, when there is a Maclearie Park issue, only the reaidents of Rhode Island point are privy to the Mayor’s meetings and mailers. Although I don’t live in the general vicinity of the park, I am a taxpayer in Belmar.

Anonymous, I agree with you completely. Belmar residents may live closer to the ocean, Lake Como, or Maclearie Park, but as a community of neighbors we should be informed and included in discussion regarding the future of our town … and have an administration that is receptive and responsive to community input. Unfortunately the reality is that’s not Belmar. The administration promotes divisiveness as a strategy that has been effective to minimize community awareness and possible opposition to the Mayor/Administrator’s “master plans”, and it will only be through individual effort to acknowledge, view, and advocate for Belmar as a whole that that strategy can/will be broken.

#1. That has been the million dollar question. Maclearie Park is a funded Green Acres Park. It is used by tens of thousands of non-residents and residents for: Picnicing, tennis, children’s playground, field sports and water recreation. Our neighborhood association is the only group advocating for all their interests. The Plan as well as the four revisions required advertised public hearings. Needless to say, such hearings have “MINUTES” taken for the record. The current administration has circumvented the process while telling the grant organizations the everything in the plans resulted from feedback from residents. This forced members to audio tape the most contentious meeting in the Point on 7/30/15. Adding insult to injury, when we OPRA’d the latest revisions the end of August, the plans were changed for Sept. 1 so that the administration could state our association was giving out false information.

This is Matt’s typical pattern. He does what he wants and tells the public bits and pieces of his decision and then waits. If there is organized opposition he might consider an angle to extract himself from his original plan and suddenly have an epiphany and the plan will be changed. He will take credit that he was going to change it all along or the public just misunderstood because they are all obstructionists and terrorists.

Be careful “permanent restrooms” can still mean a type of trailer bathroom and not repairing the permanent structure there already. His goal is to move everything at the park out of the way to allow for Chef’s parking.

Community policing strategy: separate the street captains. No exchanges between districts, cobstructive or not. Result, Dim witted theorizing in this day and age. We all exchange ideas, etc, via social interaction. Taxpayers of Belmar vote NO to obvious segregation of MACLEARIE Park.

4-Why such hostility against the ADA? The committee has made great progress over the years…,more parking for the disabled than is required…accomplished by this ADA committee… Mobi mats… idea originally came from this committee…availability of specialized equipment for the handicapped…this project originated from this committee..ADA supports activities for young adults who are intellectually and physically challenged…..presently the committee is pursuing a raised platform at the train station to accommodate wheelchairs.etc… Sidewalk cutouts to make it easy for wheelchairs… Where do you think all of these ideas originated? You came before this committee with information…you must have thought that the people then serving were worthy….every single person presently sitting on this committ

Good morning Claire. I’ll just address one point in your comment. Like I said last night, you/we have to look at things in depth. If one thing is done, then what might be the reaction to that action? As I said last night, the disabled will not benefit in any way if the railroad shuts down entirely. Also, thousands of other people would be adversely effected, not to mention all the RR workers losing their jobs. These are hard times Claire. Thousands of people here in our state sit home and watch tv all day long because there is little work and every day people leave to escape the taxes and the same with Corps. No one is against the ADA. Take care and have a good day.

Continuing my #8 comments… Every person on the ADA committee is dedicated to exploring ways of making life better for the disabled… Why would make disparaging remarks about them #4? Also, Tom, your points are well taken… My comments have little to do with train station issues..they have to do with the negative comments from #4 about the ADA… No doubt the platform at the train station will be costly.. But remembering who this project would benefit… Those who the ADA represents.. That’s the purpose of the committee… Consider their perspective…Claire

Claire is a political warmonger, a sower of discord, looking for a fight anywhere she can twist words. No one attacked the ADA. She should make a list of why she is glad to wake up every day and read it to herself only. No point in fighting with me, as “I love the smell of napalm in the morning. It smells like victory.”

11-read comment 4… Sounds like negativity against the ADA committee to me… As former chair of this committee, I know of the commitment of those who presently serve on behalf of the disabled..also, when I respond it’s usually because of a negative remark about me personally…and I ‘ll continue to do so.. Actually, I like the title of political warmonger.. Has a nice ring to it…I’ll play off this title from now on when I comment on this blog…
