    I am a rubber stamp for my boss in that it is my job to implement his directives. The AG is not an elected position, he or she derives power from the president they serve and their job is to enforce the president’s directives. The correct and honorable thing to do would have been to resign.

Matt was presented with accepting a directive (petition) he did not agree with. He, in his not so infinite un-wisdom, took it upon himself to become Judge, with a lawyer he could tell what to do, to decide whether something was constitutional or not. That is not Matt’s job.
