What about Belmar, Tom?  What about the beachfront, the marina and Maclearie Park?

Councilman Brennan and Merry both talk the talk. Now that they are SOOOO connected the entire idea of the common man, civil rights via the Public Trust Doctrine has gotten in the way they must vote. They must vote Matt and redeveloper way and against the people and environment. Spare us you special eco toilets (when we don’t even have any other than port-a-potties.) Spare us your gee, I wish the new Chef’s bar had solar panels. Tom & Merry have literally become the people my parents warned me about.

I think Mr. Brennan just likes to be on stage. He thinks he is one cool cat, but he is at the bottom of my cool-meter. Sing the blues, dude, the no-cojones blues.

Ah, I got it! Tom Brennan is powerless to vote his conscience regarding Belmar matters because he is too intimidated by the mayor, so he will address an issue in a larger venue so he will still look like an environmentally aware, law abiding person, not the puppet stooge that he appears to be. Sorry, Tom, I am trying to like you, but am finding it very difficult. In fact, I’ll bet each council member, separately, is a nice person, but as a group change into lesser beings. Why is that? Is it money, power, prestige and title? Is it worth it to belittle yourselves for one man’s ambition and profit? All my humble opinion, of course.

Mr. Brennan, show the same concern, use the same impulse to advocate for and protect Belmar’s natural beauty you seem to feel for Liberty State Park. Remember you’ll still be here, living in/enjoying the beauty of Belmar from our exquisite seashore, to God’s gift of of our harbor and Maclearie Park. Don’t let anyone’s personal agendas, grandiose delusions, pay-back schemes, efforts to put dollars or favors in their pockets dictate your conscience. If the Mayor is successful in his plan to move on, you will still be here facing your same neighbors who are being humiliated, demeaned, ignored, lied about and threatened. Your silence on the dais has spoken volumes about you. Is that who you are…who you want to be…what we’ll remember about you next January?

And for the record, I personally (a pseudonym, sure, but a real person) know how the mayor deliberately distorts and misuses others’ words, takes parts of comments out of context to create false pictures of others and create imaginary situations and impressions and let them spin out of control without further comment, watching to see what damage he can create. He knows how to rally his followers with his low-brow tactics. I am not calling him a liar outright, but, really, figure it out, he cannot be trusted and will attempt to bring down any opponent of his. What axe does he hold over the heads of council members? I would like to see an empty dais at the next mayor and council meeting, a show of protest…but then I can dream.

The Harmon are still being jerked around about their year round liquor license and their is no rhyme or reason for that hold up except we have to pay the millions that the lawsuit will cost. Connolly license transfer just weeks???? to process? ???

#9. Connolly Station was purchased by Chef’s International ( also 9th Ave. Pier, also new Marina Bar & Grille ) Chef’s is a brand owned solely by a private corporation; Lombardi Restaurants, owned solely by Lombardi Realty- Lawyer, EDISON, NJ… Now for the quiz. What NJ town did Mayor Matthew J. Doherty grow up in? We have a winner !

#12, I saw both the original play, movie and the remake “The Bandit”. I would love to believe, with the facts in hand and as Arlo would say with all those (” 8 X 10 glossy photographs with a description on the back, the police dogs, the witnesses…) that my perception was incorrect. But in Belmar, I would only trust 5 unaffiliated/ non-partisan witnesses. Now you have discovered that “Planet Belmar” is an unafilliated Belmar voter.
