Your Tourism Dollars At Work

Personally, I’d rather they spent the money on pizza than on bringing in more visitors.

Why shouldn’t the employees be treated to a lunch. They work very hard especially in the busy summer months. I’m sure the lunch included more than just pizza and for ALL employees of the town. Beach, DPW, boro hall, court and police. And keep in mind they have to deal with Colleen so that right there says they DESERVE it!!!

#4..I agree. I can tell you from experience that the women who work in Boro Hall are treated so poorly by Colleen (and even Robbin). They are yelled at in front of other employees and residents who are there to do business. They are talked down to, they are disrespected and the building is a mold filled dump. Most of them are overworked, under paid, and never acknowledged for their hard work. The men are treated better and paid more, and one gets a hefty bonus every year. It used to be a pleasure working there and we all enjoyed going to work every day, but in recent years, the employees have become so unhappy and the ones who are sticking it out are doing so because they love their jobs. They’re just waiting for Colleen to be terminated, and more than likely charged for some of her illegal activity, and then maybe things will go back to the way they used to be.

Readers beware. I’ve learned that admin has moved out of state and decided to censor posts. Time to pack it in. Shame.

Some readers have been sending in comments referring to an incident that occurred in the 1970s and involved a well known person in town. I presume it would be very embarrassing and hurtful for this person if it became widely talked about and because it happened 40 years ago it is not relevant to anything going on today. These comments have been coming in for years and the fact that I choose not to publish them has nothing to do with me moving to New Hampshire.

The Admin of this page is the only link we have to the truth within the Borough. Whatever it is that happened in 1970 is irrelevant to anything today. What is very relevant is that the Current Borough Administrator is toxic and spiteful and is the downfall in this town. She will be the reason that there is going to be a shift in this upcoming election. People want change and she is the one if gone will start change for the betterment of our town.

Get rid of the tourism commission. There is no need for it. Get rid of all the activities that clog our town, including this San Gennaro stupidity.

I don’t think the issue is the employee party but rather that it was paid for out of the pocket of the tourism commission, is that correct? Which would mean if they’re using tourism dollars for something other than tourism, what else are they dipping into that they shouldn’t…

Exactly. It’s happened before and they got sued for it.

Thank you for clairifying, Dave. And thank you for continuing on with this as you settle into your new digs. Being new here, I wouldn’t know half of what goes on in town if it weren’t for this outlet and its many voices.

On another note, the San Gennaro festival is kind of frivilous and not worthy of being a 2-day event. I went one year and won’t go again. It also coincides with the much bigger and better Festival of the Sea going on in Pt. Pleasant on the 15th. You’d think a tourism commission would be aware of potentially competing events.

Admin. I truly appreciate the information you provide on this blog. If it wasnt for you, people wouldn’t know the truth about what goes on behind closed doors in this town.
But i have to respectfully disagree with you about the irrelevancy of what happened many years ago. I believe we are on the same page as to the incident in question. It was big news back then. I think being transparent is only fair. Let the people decide what they want. It’s your blog and just my opinion. Thanks.

This is EXACTLY why JB Cupcakes had problem giving money to what they receive NO benefit from. Tourism fees buy employees lunch. Don’t think they’re agreeing to this.

Has anyone spoken to the employees about what they think of the Borough Administrator? I see there is so much hate for her on the business and resident side, but how do the employees feel? Employees from all departments Lifeguards (that would be interesting) DPW, Police, First Aid, Code Enforcement, Fire Department, Administration, Beach Workers, Marina. This would be interesting to know. Would they be able to speak freely about the way they are treated daily. Maybe if the mayor and council heard it from the workers something would change….or at least I would hope it would.

#17…it would be nice if the employees could freely voice their opinions about Colleen, but it would only fall on deaf ears. I tried when I worked there, and no one cared. She has the mayor and council so snowballed that they believe everything she says. I know from experience that the employees must share the same beliefs and opinions as Colleen, or they simply don’t matter. The morale of the employees is so poor and she doesn’t care. She never will.

I have to wonder why none of the council members, the mayor, or Colleen ever respond to any of these comments. They MUST read them!! And if they’re too cowardly to respond, why don’t they at least do something about ANYTHING?? Even if it’s just to explain why tourism paid for the lunch, or why the employees are treated like sh*t?? If they have big enough balls to create all these problems, why don’t they have the balls to at least own up to it and respond to any of us??
