It’s a matter of did he resign b/c he had enough of these officials or that the officials had enough of him? Ultimately, a sad situation all around. Robert, u have a good point. Clerk needs to step up to the plate as well. Think all players need to know who they answer to. The taxpayers.

Steve kornacki’s MSNBC report on two faces of Belmar mayor Matt Doherty is again swirling about the internet. Did he hear Dawn Zimmer being intimidated by James CostabiLe of the Christie administration or not? Hmmmmmmm. Speaking on camera, on the dias or in court your stories should be credible, no typos, mistakes, misconstrued or hornswaggling. Flim flam the pavilion vote and it will also fly back int ok your face. how much influence w as involved in the 507 liquor license transfer vs the connelly station transfer to chefs? how long were they held up? Anything like the 50 foot transfer to the marina from 507

If this is all a product of bad advice by DuPont like the Mayor says it is, then we should be going after his insurance to foot the bill for legal fees and if necessary, the cost of the reprinting of ballots. Let’s see if that happens.

Wait! It get’s worse. William Northgrave
( Mc Manimon, Scotland… Newark, NJ, a resident of Bayonne is a notoriously sloppy and inept attorney. He will be no more than a more expensive version of Dupont. He was responsible for loosing the Edelman, Gray v. Belmar- Beachfront Redevelopment suit-2013. You think things were bad before. Just another attorney who will do what the administration wants to do regardless of law.

The bad thing is not that DuPont and Northgrave keep losing in court. Those cases we needed them to lose. The bad thing is that they agreed to argue them in the first place. We need an attorney who will tell the mayor he can’t do these things.

My opinion is that this whole “mess” has been planned and orchestrated by the administration as “Plan B” to be enacted if they had been challenged about the explanatory statement, to postpone the current lawsuits until after the election if possible. Blame it on the lawyer, not Doherty and Colleen. They never make mistakes. What will Jennifer say? Oops, no M&C meeting in two weeks, cancelled. The word will be that the evil and obstructionist element is against recovery and keeps filing frivolous lawsuits.

What, specifically, is the requirement of a municipal attorney? Do all municipalities have municipal attorneys to monitor council meetings? If so, at what point did that position become necessary to the public or was the practice implemented via league of municipalities to provide benefits and pensions to their friends and sycophants especially if said attorney served at the pleasure of the mayor (of course, with council resolution consent).

I most definitely do not think Dupont expected to be the fall guy. I believe he was part and party to all of it and was to step aside after the election. I think he wants to distance himself from Belmar. But they got caught and then he took the shot. Dupont knows a lot, if I were Matt I would be worried. Too much has happened here.

Think a towns attorney will go with the flow of those that appointed him/her. As long as a ruling isn’t challenged, it’s legal. Wording of interruptive statement was written by an employee and/or Mayor and apparently approved as to legal form by attorney. Simple. Downfall is that it should have been in the resolution. From what I have heard it was just a bad call from the attorney. There are worse sins in the world. Don’t agree how the town handled his separation. Could have been done more discreetly.
