Bulkhead not on Belmar property:
Resident stickler and one of my favorite Belmar people Gene Cramer pointed this fact out at last night’s hearing. (Mayor Doherty had to leave early so most of last night’s meeting was chaired by Council President Magovern.) When asked about it later in the hearing both Magovern and Borough Administrator Colleen Connelly said that they had known it all along.
I didn’t know it. In all the years of meetings I’ve attended I’ve probably heard hours of discussion just about the bulkhead and how to pay for fixing it. I never heard the fact mentioned that it wasn’t on Belmar property and that we might not even own it. I learned that last night from my neighbor Gene.
Maybe I’m not listening carefully enough.
Tennis courts retreat:
I’m sorry I don’t have time to write this morning, but it looks like they’ve retreated on most of the big changes that were planned for Maclearie. Still lots and lots of questions and complaints about the process, about the way the borough handled the grant application and especially about lack of transparency, communication and even sincerity in the borough’s dealings with the folks. Also many are unpleased about the lack of maintenance of what we already have at Maclearie.
Ethics Un-Reform Tabled:
Because the mayor wasn’t there and because the meeting was running really late, Magovern tabled the introduction of 2015-26, the loosening of restrictions on how campaigns are funded in Belmar.
Have to go to work now. Video up in a few more hours.

Excellent job to Gene and Dave and Teddy. I want the Grants to be approved and used to fix the park, and the more information residents have about this the better off for us and the park.
Many excellent speakers last night.
I could not make it I hope everyone clapped when the speakers ended their thoughts.
Besides the new can of worms that now two changes to the concept plan and particulars memorialized in the Award Grant ( including estimated costs).Reviewing the 9/1/15 changes Phase I and Proposed Phase II, The athletic Field which had a fenced perimeter open space of approx.400 ft. L X 180 ft.wide with game viewing area on strip between Rt. 35 and fence… will now lose over60 ft. in length to accommodate the Pavilion, Bathroom Trailer and twin bocce ball courts. The width will loose approx. 30 ft. to accommodate parking along 35. Resulting in a much smaller athletic field of approximately 340′ X 150′ Gene brought up excellent comment about protecting bathroom trailer from vandalism. Hard to do the way its placed.
I’m betting that the bocce goes the way of the band shell. Extra parking will probably stay to handle overflow from the marina.
Maybe the town should take some of the home by summer money and clean up the park. Since the house still isn’t done. The town must still be in the process of accepting donations. Something is fishy. I just wish somebody with some pull would just look into this.
Time takes it’s toll
seas rise and fall
everyone’s goota deal

Flounders know what’s so
crabbies know too
when you gotta go

Mayor said it once
do the bulkhead first
now he’s all contrite
cause now he’s got the Shark River bulkhead blues.
